Wioletta Grzegorzewska

Hektary does not differ from any other village in Poland. The 80s. The mud, processions, occasional feasts, the smell of earth, the buzzing of flies, litanies said next to roadside crosses and… longing for something that is permanent, eternal, repeatable. The place where time passes ‘differently’, and the minutes are replaced by work and prayer. ‘Guguły’ tells the story of becoming adolescent in Polish reality of those who will never leave Hektary as well as of those who will choose to live in the city. The process of amnesia accompanies them quite often: ‘The further you go, the weaker you remember where you come from’.

Only the echo repeats. ‘You can leave the village, but the village will never leave you”. We observe such village very carefully.

The performance realized as part of the project: ‘Przypisy teatralne – Oskar Kolberg’.
